But wait, there’s more! Chris continues…

Now, this is a bummer. I’ve really enjoyed having Brandon around here. He’s eager, he’s funny — and he’s talented as hell.

Both are tackle-any-project-thrown-their-way type of visual journalists that we see the
industry gravitating toward. Brandon starts on April 16th and Jessica starts April 30th.
Congratulations, Chris, on two fabulous hires! Congratulations Jessica, on moving up to the big city!
Brandon… you traitor…

I worked with Jessie for more than three years as both a designer and a reporter at the Kitsap Sun, and I can honestly say she that her superb talent is matched only by her ability to work well with others.
I’ve worked with designers who had talent but were too arrogant or aloof to communicate with reporters, editors and photographers. I’ve also wokred with designers who were a friendly as beagles but just didn’t quite have the creativity needed for the task. And then I worked with Jessie.
Jessie’s primary goal isn’t to wow readers and editors with her illustrations or design. Instead, she focuses on the best way to visually tell the story, even if that means sacrificing a nice visual. By focusing on the story rather than the design, she is a true visual storyteller.
Take care of my girl, Tribune. She’s something special.
