Another example of retouching fashion photos

As if we need another example to prove how extensively Photoshop is in the world of fashion magazines, Jezebel.com shows us how Redbook retouched its July cover image of singer Faith Hill.

At left is the original photo. On the right, obviously, is the published version:

Strong stuff. A comment by a Jezebel reader summed it up best:

I thought clavicles were supposed to be hot right now.

Jezebel had offered a $10,000 reward for the best example of magazine cover retouching. Looks like they have a winnah. Read all about it at Jezebel:

Stacy Morrison, the editor of Redbook defended her cover on the Women’s Wear Daily web site:

The retouching we did on Faith Hill’s photo for the July cover of Redbook is completely in line with industry standards. We are investigating how the unretouched images got released.

Ha! Yeah, I’ll bet you’re investigating!

Actually, that Jezebel site is full of all sorts of interesting things relating to magazine publishing and fashion photography. If you’re interested in those fields, visit that site with this warning: You’ll end up wasting a lot of time there.
