Graphic artist Amanda Raymond of the Tacoma News Tribune will join the staff of the Seattle Times.

Not quite Hell’s Angel, but close enough.

David Montesino of the News Tribune announced Monday:
It is with sadness that I send this note out to let you know that Amanda is leaving the The News Tribune for the Seattle Times. Not only are we losing one half of our art department, we are losing a world-class artist and a terrific person. Amanda, this past year, was instrumental in helping the TNT develop a multimedia graphics presence. She has also been a strong influence in news graphics — coordinating and producing graphics packages — and shared her creative flair in features illustrations. I will surely miss her insight as a journalist and her good humor as a colleague. Please join me in congratulating Amanda on her new job. This week is her last.
Amanda has been in Tacoma since June 2005. Previously, she worked at The St. Petersburg Times, the Times of Northwest Indiana and The Richmond (Va.) Times Dispatch.
Amanda is a 1994 graduate of the University of Delaware, where she earned a Master of Fine Arts in painting.

Big congrats to Amanda. She’ll be happy to know motorcycle parking is easy here (I think).

Man I won’t miss her at all. Always hammering on me to update her Illustrator, Flash, Strata, FreeHand(!?), Java, Safari, TextEdit, OS X. Constantly breaking the printer that always prints great for Fred, then that Zen thing about motorcycling and science fiction novels. Sheesh.
Nope, won’t miss her at all. Nada.

Dear Mike,
Yeah yeah yeah. My heart bleeds for you. Sorry, but some of us just work fast, and we need machines that can perform well, not just fizzle and break down at the drop of a hat. Sorry that’s your lot in life, buddy, to be the one to pick up the pieces :) :)
Sincerely,
Amanda
