Happy birthday, Ellen Lynch
Let’s pause today to wish the happiest of VizEds birthdays today to Ellen Lynch of The State in Columbia, S.C. Ellen turns a whole 27 years old today.

Ellen describes herself as a natural klutz. She’s been known to tell folks about the time she sprained her ankle at a high school soccer game — and she wasn’t even playing.
She writes:
Basically, I have the type of life where if something can go wrong that will make for a funny story later, then it will happen. I’ve had friends suggest that I could write books over the insane things that have happened to me.
Just to prove her point, Ellen won an Xbox 360 on Casino Night at SND/Orlando last year:

Three raffle winners on Casino Night ‘06: Mark Koenig (MacBook) Ellen Lynch (Xbox 360) and Kris Kinkaid (Disney ticket package).

The punchline? Ellen’s not much of a gamer. She was trying to unload the game before she even left Orlando. Hey, Ellen: Who eventually wound up with it?
Ellen is also a history buff. She claims she has visited every Revolutionary War battlefield in South Carolina. Careful walking around those battlefields, Ellen. We wouldn’t want you to sprain another ankle.
Ellen has been at The State about two years. Before that, she spent two years at The Albuquerque Journal. She’s a 2003 graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee.A few samples of Ellen’s work:

Ellen shares a birthday with Reagan Branham of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Judy Le of The Virginian-Pilot, singer Ciara Harris, painter Pablo Picasso and hot-tempered basketball coach Bobby Knight. Plus, today is Punk for a Day Day. Seriously.
Happy birthday, Ellen! Best wishes!
