Happy birthday, Tim Goheen
.
Let’s take a moment to wish a happy VizEds birthday to Tim Goheen, art director and managing editor of McClatchy Tribune Information Services in Washington, D.C.
Tim has been with MCT for nearly 13 years. He spent a year as a senior illustrator before he was promoted to art director. At that time, of course, MCT was known as Knight-Ridder/Tribune graphics.
He’s won two SND awards and nine — count ‘em, nine — awards in the annual Malofiej infographics competition, including a silver in 1998 for his portfolio and a gold award in 2000 for online graphics.
Previously, Tim was a staff artist at The State in Columbia, S.C. for eight-and-a-half years. I was very familiar with his work when I was an hour or so up the road from him at The Herald in Rock Hill, S.C.
Tim is a 1986 graduate of Michigan State, majoring in Socio-Economics. Wow. Sounds scary. He earned a master’s degree last year in newsroom management from Ohio University.
Tim shares a birthday with Kris Viesselman of National Geographic, singers Gwen Stefani, Ashlee Simpson and Chubby Checker, writers James Herriot and Gore Vidal and actors Seann William Scott and Neve Campbell.
Plus, today is Virus Appreciation Day. Whatever that means.
Best wishes for a happy birthday, Tim!
