Link hires two copy desk staffers

Link editor Brianne Warner wrote Sunday:

I’m thrilled to announce two new copy editors at Link. This brings the Link newsroom to full staff for the first time since we launched in October 2006.

Brian French, who has been a sports editor and writer across Virginia, is returning home to Hampton Roads. He most recently was the sports editor at the Goochland Gazette and MidLothian Exchange, two weeklies outside of Richmond. Before that, he served as the sports editor at the Northern Virginia Daily in Strasburg. He has also been a sports writer for the Danville Register & Bee and the Petersburg Progress-Index and a freelancer for The Pilot for many years. He attended Indian River High School and Old Dominion University. Brian started at Link on Oct. 21.

Danielle Hayes also has roots in the Pilot sports desk, working as an editorial assistant handling agate pages and high school scores since March. She is a graduate of Penn State and has worked as a freelance writer for The York Dispatch in Pennsylvania and a research assistant at the Penn State Center of Sports Journalism. She’s currently splitting hours between the Pilot sports EA position and the Link copy desk, with her complete switch to Link coming once the Pilot EA position is filled.

Congratulations to both!
