San Antonio to go punk in Boston
Dean Lockwood of The San Antonio Express-News posted an ad that says:
The San Antonio Express-News wants you to go home from SND with a bit of Boston and Texas in your pocket. so we’ve whipped up a music quiz giveaway.
Use your wits (or just Google and YouTube) to answer three simple (?) questions about Boston’s legendary punk cabaret band, The Dresden Dolls.
At Thursday night’s reception, the first four people to bring correct answers to an Express-News staffer will get their very own Express-News “Visuals” department T-shirt.
Answer the bonus question and you’ll receive a free copy of the Dolls’ CD, Yes, Virginia.
Sounds like a very clever promotion, Dean. Very cool.

“San Antonio goes punk” — hadn’t really thought of it that way. :)
Truthfully, the Dresden Dolls are WAY too cool for this mortgaged, hairline-receding fortysomething. My daughter is a BU student and this is her favorite band. Now that I find myself becoming a fan, I suppose she’ll have to drop them like a bad habit.
Seriously, though, great band. Never would have thought a piano and drum could make this much noise. And it’s a really GOOD noise!

It’s a swell idea, Dean. And a great way to attract attention from all the college students who’ll be in Boston. Notice, please, I even gave you an “innovative ideas” tag.

College student? Who’s talking about college students?
I’m seeing YOU, Chuck — doing the karaoke thing to “Coin-Operated Boy”!
