SF Chronicle’s Randy Greenwell is new Virginian-Pilot photo director
The management of The Virginian-Pilot announced:
Randy Greenwell, director of photography at The San Francisco Chronicle, is our new director of photography.
Randy brings a host of skills to the job that will help us move into the digital age while maintaining our proud tradition of photojournalism. He led his staff to a Pulitzer and a Photographer of the Year award recently.
He’ll start on Oct. 31.
Randall has been the DOP at the Chronicle since 2003. Previously, he was sports picture editor and then main news picture editor for the Chronicle.
Before that, he spent ten years as a staff photographer, page designer and picture editor for the Evansville (Indiana) Press.
Randy replaces Alex Burrows, who retired earlier this year after nine years as the Pilot’s director of photography.

The Evansville Press legacy continues. :) Congrats buddy, couldn’t happen to a better guy! You’ll be a great fit at the Pilot. Just don’t take any crap from that Apple guy.

Congratulations, Randy! I haven’t seen you in years, and on a whim I googled your name. Nice job with the Chronicle!
Good to see you’re doing well. Good luck with the Virginia gig.
