Thursday morning briefs
I’M LOVIN’ ITÂÂ
As promised, I hit the streets this morning in search of the closest McDonald’s. Which turns out to be at the corner of Washington and Kneeland, across the street from Tufts-New England Medical School in the theater district.

It’s about five or six blocks. A five minute walk. A bit too much in the drizzle today, but perhaps a better morning walk later this week. We’ll see.
And, of course, if Dan Zedek had time to read my blog this week — and surely he has more important things to do — he’d point out that there is a very nice continental breakfast being served each morning on the meeting floor. For free.

INTERNET SERVICE
The $12.95-per-day internet service in the rooms works just fine. It’s a cable connection, but it gets the job done.
I’m assured the wifi on the meeting level works swell. I’ll give it a try in a few minutes.

WHERE WE ARE
Most of the workshop will be on the second floor, by the way. I posted this earlier this week, but here, again, is the floor plan:

WE’VE ALREADY BEGUN
The registration tables opened early this morning. The quickcourses began about a half-hour ago. The student session begins in a couple more hours.
The opening reception will be tonight a 7 p.m. at Felt. I’m told there will be shuttles between here and there.
Check out the full schedule.ÂÂ

IF YOU CAN’T STAND THE HEAT…
I finally figure out how to turn off the heat in my room. With the heat off and a window open, it’s quite comfortable here, on the fifth floor. I had no trouble walking around this morning in the drizzle in short sleeves. If you’re a cold-natured person, you’ll need a sweater.
