Happy birthday, Eric Palm
Here’s wishing the happiest of VizEds Birthdays to Eric Palm, a designer at the Orlando Sentinel. Eric turns 34 today.

Eric has been in Orlando about a year-and-a-half. Previously, he edited and designed pages for The New York Times, the Sarasota, Fla. Herald Tribune, the Ocala (Fla.) Star Banner and The News & Observer of Raleigh, N.C.
Eric is a 1996 graduate of Auburn University. He and his wife, Anika Myers Palm, live in Orlando.

Orlando’s Stephen Komives contributes this little gem:
Here are 8 things you might not know about Eric:
- He worked security at a New Kids on the Block concert.
- He was a self-described nerd who went to Space Camp.
- There’s one degree of separation between him and Kevin Bacon.
- He’s never driven faster than 115 mph (but he did hit 114 once, in a Saturn!).
- He went skydiving once, but came down with the plane.
- His mother went to college with his wife’s mother and father.
- Worst of all: he once ate at McDonald’s for two weeks straight!

Eric hares a birthday with a slew of actors: Kiefer Sutherland, Andy Dick, Ray Romano, Samuel L. Jackson and Jane Fonda and two late, great musicians: Frank Zappa and Carl Wilson.
Plus, today is — take a deep breath — National Look at the Bright Side Day, National Flashlight Day, National French Fried Shrimp Day and National Hamburger Day. Seriously.
Best wishes, Eric, for a happy birthday!

Thanks for the birthday surprise. O-town is going well now that I’m technically part owner of Tribune.
