Happy birthday, Francie Williamson
Let’s pause a moment to wish a very happy birthday to one of VizEds‘ more colorful members, Francie Krantz Williamson, page one editor of The Quad City Times. Francie turns 28 today.

Francie is a 2000 graduate of the University of Missouri. She spent two years at The Sun News of Myrtle Beach, S.C., before moving to The Portland (Maine) Press Herald and then The Savannah (Ga.) Morning News.
Francie joined The Quad City Times nearly a year ago. Her husband, Dan Williamson — a graduate of the University of Michigan — is the photo editor of The Press Citizen, down the road a bit in Iowa City.
At the Times, Francie had the good fortune to work for the wonderfully talented AME there, Greg Swanson. Greg moved on earlier this year, and, as a result, Francie now has the opportunity to work for the wonderfully talented AME Bill Bootz.
Bootz has this to say about her:
She’s damned good at what she does, and I’m glad to have her in the Quad-Cities. And no, you CAN’T have her!

In her spare time, Francie says she enjoys scrapbooking, going to museums and presidential politics. Boy, is she in the right place for that right now.
In addition, Francie works part-time with Eddie Bauer. Although frankly, I don’t know what she’s doing hanging out with a stressed-out FBI agent.
Oh, wait. That’s Jack Bauer. Eddie Bauer is a outdoorsy-type retail store. Never mind…

Franie and her sweetie, Dan. Or perhaps not.
We stole this photo from her Facebook page,
where it had no caption. This may, in fact,
be a stray presidential candidate Francie
found hitchhiking along Interstate 80. You
never know.

Speaking of Jack Bauer, Francie doesn’t share a birthday with him — Keifer Sutherland’s own birthday is Friday — but she does share a birthday with Brad Pitt. I can practically hear her cheering from here. Other notable birthdays today include Steven Spielberg, Keith Richards, Christine Aguilera and Tom Cruise’s main squeeze, Katie Holmes.
Plus, today is National Roast Sucking Pig Day. I hope you hit the Hallmark store early; I’m betting all their Roast Sucking Pig cards are gone by now.
Best wishes, Francie, for the happiest of birthdays!

Enjoy, Francie. And I hope that, unlike Kiefer Sutherland, you do NOT spend your birthday in jail! :-P

Even though it’s almost over, happy B-day, Francie!
And sucking pigs, Charles? Are those the ones Steve Martin referred to in his cheerleader line “Die, you gravy-sucking pigs”? Just wondering.

Thanks Charles. As I am Jewish, I did not commemorate Roast a Pig day. However, I did have some tasty Mongolian BBQ.
I also share my birthday with Leonard Maltin and Ray Liotta. And Chris Farley died on my birthday, ten years ago in fact. It’s also the day New Jersey became a state and future home to Harris Siegal. I’m very grateful to be born on such a historical date.
And yes, that is my husband. :D

Happy birthday, Francie! Or a happy one, belated, depending on when you read this. :)
