Fall and winter ‘08 internships at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Carlos Ayulo, Design Director of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, writes:

A while back, I was told that you were seeking any internship information from newspapers?

Absolutely, Carlos, my friend! We posted a big thread on the topic last fall and then followed it up time and time and time again.

Whaddya have for us, man?

We have internships year-around.

- Internships last up to 13 weeks and pay $393 per week.

- Interns will begin hands-on work with covers and inside pages shortly after a few days of training.

At the moment we are full through this Summer, but I need to get some recruits for the Fall and Winter.

Here is more information about the internships:

Summer eligibility and requirements:

1. The applicants must have completed their junior year or be a recent college graduate or enrolled in graduate school
2. Brief biographical cover letter
3. Official transcript
4. Resumé
5. Work samples (PDFs or CDs)
6. Four references.

Fall / Winter / Spring eligibility and requirements:

1. Brief biographical cover letter
2. Official transcript
3. Resumé
4. Work samples (PDFs or CDs)
5. Four references.

Some additional information for you…

1) The Post-Dispatch is part of the Lee Enterprises chain. By most accounts, they don’t suck.

2) The paper circulates about 275,000 daily and more than 400,000 Sunday. Which doesn’t suck.

3) The paper is broadsheet every day except Saturday, when it’s a tab.

Which doesn’t suck.

4) Among the fabulous folks who work at The Post-Dispatch are Carlos himself — of course — AME for Presentation Bob Rose, designer and multimedia whiz Erica Smith, designers Reagan Branham and Gabe Hartwig, and graphics genius John Telford. And a bunch of other people, too, who I know I’ll regret leaving out.

And you know what? These folks don’t suck!

Sounds great, Carlos! Thanks for letting us know!

OK, kids: The last one to send their application to Carlos is a rotten egg!
