Happy birthday, Jennifer Borresen
Here’s wishing the happiest of VizEds birthdays today to Jennifer Borresen, graphics editor of the The Herald-Tribune of Sarasota, Fla.
A 1996 graduate of the Ringling School of Art & Design in Sarasota, Jennifer worked as an artist for The Tampa Tribune for three years before returning to Sarasota in 2001.
The Herald-Tribune’s Danny DeJarnette says this about her:
Jenn does whatever you need, whenever you need it, whether she wants to do it or not (and she usually wants to, but even if she doesn’t, you wouldn’t know it, ’cause her attitude shines like the Florida sun). When you’re down, she picks you up. When she’s down, she picks you up. And if you’re standing in her way a minute before the 4 p.m. budget meeting, she’ll run you over doing the 40-meter dash from her desk to the printer.
A few samples of Jennifer’s work:
The one of the right won her a first-place award last year from the Florida Society of Newspaper Editors.
See more of Jennifer’s stuff, of course, in her NewsPageDesigner portfolio.
Jennifer shares a birthday with musicians Natalie Imbruglia and Alice Cooper, former New York Giant Lawrence Taylor, former vice-president Dan Quayle, civil rights figure Rosa Parks and aviator Charles Lindbergh.
Plus, today is Create a Vacuum Day. Which is what I do every day with my own published work. Ba-Dum Bump.
Best wishes for a happy birthday, Jennifer!

Many thanks Charles and Danny. And yes, I do believe I clipped Danny a few times hauling bacon to the printer. Artist on a mission and all.

Jenn, in all our years together you never ran me over. Even when we were both pregnant and clumsy as hell!
Happy birthday.
