Happy birthday, Linda Shapley

Here’s wishing the happiest of VizEds birthdays to Linda Shapley, news design director of The Denver Post. Linda turns 39 today (Saturday).

Linda has been at the Post more than 11 years. She’s worked, most notably, on the Colorado Sunday section and the daily local section. She also worked with Damon Cain on the big redesign of the Post, back in 2004.

Linda graduated from Colorado State University in 1992 with a degree in speech communication. She spent two years as a designer and copy editor with The Greeley Tribune and another year-and-a-half at The Kansas City Star before moving to Denver in 1996.

Her pal, Janna Fischer, says this about her:

In addition to being an excellent designer and motivator, Linda can liven up a dull night. For example, right this instant, she’s encouraging the design desk of the Post to talk like a pirate.

See more, of course, in her NewsPageDesigner page.

Linda shares a birthday with actors Mena Suvari, Ziyi Zhang, Joe Peschi and Mia Farrow, singer and songwriter Carole King and entertainers Carmen Miranda and Gypsy Rose Lee.

Plus, today is Toothache Day. Seriously.

Best wishes for a happy birthday, Linda!
