Happy birthday, Rob Schneider
Let’s pause a moment today to wish the happiest of VizEds birthdays to Rob Schneider, the Presentation Director of The Dallas Morning News. Rob turns 36 today.

No, seriously. Today really is his birthday. His birthday is not Aug. 31. That would be the other Rob Schneider.
Read Matt Erickson’s ‘pre-birthday wish’ to Rob at VizEds.
Speaking of Matt Erickson…
Would someone please — please — tell us what the hell is going on in this series of photos?

guy not in the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader
costume is Rob Schneider. The other one is
Matt Erickson. The skirt on the head is a nice
touch. Photos by Tyson Evans. Although if I
were Tyson, I’d decline the credit…

Rob has worked at the Morning News a little over four years. Previously, Rob was the Weekend Sports Editor of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
About that same time, there was another designer at the Post-Dispatch named Chris Snider. Chris is now the editor of Juice in Des Moines. But to this day, I sometimes suffer a brain-fart and swap out Schneider with Snider.
But at least I’m celebrating Rob’s birthday on the correct day.
Before he worked in St. Louis, Rob was a designer at The Omaha World-Herald. A graduate of Truman State University, Rob began his career as a designer and sports editor for The St. Joseph (Mo.) News-Press.
A few examples of Rob’s work:
And, just for the hell of it, here’s an oldie-but-moldie — one of my all-time favorite Olympics-themed pages. Rob put this one together four years ago:

Rob shares a birthday with actors Chris Farley and Jane Seymour, cartoonists Matt Groening and Art Spiegelman, Brandon Boyd, the lead singer of Incubus, and Galileo Galilei. Who, if he were still alive, would celebrate his 443rd birthday today.
Plus, today is National Gum Drop Day. Seriously.
Best wishes, Rob! Happy birthday!

While I refuse to believe that today is Rob’s REAL birthday, I will send him birthday wishes nonetheless — and that’s despite the way he made me pay up on the Bears-Cowboys bet I lost with him last September.

Happy birthday. Celebrate like a true Texan — begin with a mouth full of grits, do a grand job at work and spend the evening with your lovely wife, Esther, and look forward to your next birthday in April, and the next one after that in May.

Rob, you’ve always been the wind beneath my wings. Just so you know, it’s OK to un-tuck your shirt from time to time. CONGRATS bestest buddy!
