Fighting the decline of classified advertising

Now, here’s an interesting way to fight the decline of classified advertising.

Kill your classified advertising section. That’s what The Sun News of Myrtle Beach, S.C., is doing. In its Monday and Tuesday papers, at least.

Editor & Publisher reports:

In a note to readers, Sun News Vice President and Editor Trisha O’Connor said “the region’s largest classified inventory available anywhere” will be available on MyrtleBeachOnline.com. The paper will publish a separate classifieds section Wednesdays through Saturdays, she added.

Read it in E&P.

Maybe someone read my post elsewhere? Just kidding! I doubt I’m the only one who has suggested the move.
