Here’s wishing a happy VizEds birthday to Cassie Armstrong, multimedia coordinator of The Orlando Sentinel.

Is there anyone out there who doesn’t know Cassie? She did a fabulous, fabulous job as site chair for the 2006 SND annual workshop in Orlando.

Cassie was named multimedia coordinator at the Sentinel last June after serving as the Sentinel’s design editor. Previously, she spent five years as the lead A1 designer of The Indianapolis Star and three years before that as a page designer at the Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale.

A 1994 graduate of Eastern Illinois University, Cassie started out as a reporter, photog and designer at The Robinson Daily News, a 5,000 p.m. daily in southeastern Illinois.

Cassie shares a birthday with Darren Sanefski of The Syracuse, N.Y. Post-Standard, actors Stephen Colbert and Bea Arthur (of The Golden Girls), boxer Joe Louis, basketball star Dennis Rodman, and musicians Stevie Wonder and Darius “My name is not ‘Hootie’” Rucker.

In addition, today is Leprechaun Day. Seriously.
