Happy birthday, Darren Sanefski
Here’s wishing the happiest of VizEds birthdays to Darren Sanefski, the assistant art director of The Post-Standard in Syracuse, N.Y. Darren turns 45 today.

Darren has worked at The Post-Standard an astounding 21 years. Geez.
Over that same timeframe, I worked at seven separate newspapers. I can’t even imagine staying put for that long.
A 1985 graduate of Syracuse University, Darren also has served as an adjunct professor at Syracuse for three years.
You can catch Darren in action at the SND Small Paper Summit, Saturday, May 31 at the Republican-American newspaper building in Waterbury, Conn. Also speaking there will be Bill Ostendorf of Creative Circle Media, Vanessa Valdes, a features designer at The Concord (N.H.) Monitor in Concord, N.H., and yours truly.
Darren will talk about the simple-but-often-overlooked details that can make a small paper really sing: Architecture, grids, organization. Read more about the summit in our earlier posts here and here.

Darren shares a birthday with Cassie Armstrong of The Orlando Sentinel, actors Stephen Colbert and Bea Arthur (of The Golden Girls), boxer Joe Louis, basketball star Dennis Rodman, and musicians Stevie Wonder and Darius Rucker — the latter of whom nearly everyone persists in incorrectly calling “Hootie.”
In addition, today is Leprechaun Day. Seriously.
Sigh. Always after me Lucky Charms…
Best wishes for a happy birthday, Darren! We’ll see you in two weeks in Connecticut!

Happy birthday!
You share your birthday with Stephen Colbert? And almost the same year. That’s amazing!

Thanks Guys, this was very nice.
Steve Dorsey and I go way back, before I was an adjunct at Newhouse I had many interns under my anal retentive thumb, Steve was one of them.
Stephen Colbert and I have the same birthday, it explains the picture I use on my vised ning page.
