Let’s pause on this sunny Saturday to offer happy VizEds birthday wishes to Stephanie Guigou of Bowling Green University. Stephanie turns 22 today.

You’ll remember Stephanie from the first “The Intern” contest in Orlando two years ago. She spent a semester last year in Europe, studying in Tours, France, and then shadowing Ferdinando Baptista in Spain, before Ferdinando left El Correo for National Geographic. She then served a summer internship as a features designer at The St. Petersburg Times.

The previous year, 2006, Stephanie interned at The Tucson Citizen in Arizona. And the year before that — 2005 — she spent time in Tunisia working for Bowling Green’s journalism department.

She was design editor this year for Bowling Green’s student newspaper, the BG News. She also works with Miscellany magazine, the President’s Leadership Academy, the Honors Program and the forensics team. A journalism major with minors in graphic design and French, Stephanie plans to graduate in December.

A couple of weeks ago, the university announced Stephanie had won a Frazier Reams Public Affairs Fellowship to help fund her final semester.

Stephanie shares a birthday with Joey Marburger of The Indianapolis Star, actors Bill Paxton and Dennis Hopper, comedian Bob Saget, boxing great Sugar Ray Leonard, musicians Enya Brennan, Jordan Knight (of New Kids on the Block), Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails) and Andrea Corr (of The Corrs). Today is also the birthday of the late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Remember him?

In addition, today is Pack Rat Day. Seriously.
