Top 10 reasons to attend the Small-Paper Summit this Saturday
From our home office in Waterbury, Conn., here are the top 10 reasons you should drop everything and make plans to attend the SND Small-Paper Summit this weekend:
10. It’s only $95 for SND members and $150 for non-members. That’s nearly as cheap as a tank of gas!
9. Until this weekend, only the lucky journalism students at Syracuse University have been able to witness first-hand the Darren Sanefski teaching experience. We hear he’s brilliant. Be there Saturday and find out for yourself!

8. Come hear our host, Scott Griffin, explain to anyone interested in hearing the story why Waterbury is considered by some to be the corruption capital of the U.S.
7. You can bring a couple of tearsheets (or JPEGs or PDFs) with you to be critiqued by the panel.
6. You can watch a Bill Ostendorf presentation for a fraction of his normal consulting fee!

—5. There’s a 60 percent chance of rain and thundershowers forecast for the area Saturday. What the hell else are you going to do?
4. Afterward, you can watch Air Supply in concert, down the street at the Palace Theater. Just think: Air Supply + Charles Apple. That’s a double-dose of hot air!
3. Everything we’ll talk about Saturday will be geared toward small papers and solutions for small papers. Papers just like yours.
2. Lunch is on the house. WooHOO!
And the No. 1 reason to be in Waterbury on Saturday…
1. Because this is the first time since 2005 that a New England paper has hosted a Quick Course. Come to think of it, this is only the sixth Quick Course in 20 years to be held in New England.
When will you get another opportunity like this?
Read more details — including prices and a map showing how to get there — in our earlier post on this topic.

You forgot one: The newspaper building is one of the coolest, neatest around — housed in a former railroad terminal.

I had no idea Air Supply had a third member. Not that I listen to Air Supply or anything….

My boss has two tickets to Air Supply that he tried to give away in tonight’s 1A meeting (sound of crickets … everyone looks at ceiling …). I’m trying to convince him to donate them as a door prize on Saturday. The winner MUST go.

Gee, Scott. Is your staff ‘All Out of Love’ for Air Supply?

‘Lost in Love’ we apparently are not.

Just thought of another reason why it’s good I’ll be there. I love my daughter dearly, but I’m missing a Build A Bear birthday party Saturday afternoon. Dang!
