Come be brilliant Wednesday in Gastonia
What are you doing this coming Wednesday, Aug. 6?
Why not zip over the offices of the Gaston Gazette in Gastonia, N.C. — just a few miles west of Charlotte — and take in my Art of Being Brilliant presentation?
—
What is the Art of Being Brilliant?
The Art of Being Brilliant is about creativity in newspaper design. We’ll talk about from where inspiration comes and what you need in order to create brilliant work. we’ll look at all sorts of brilliant work being done at newspapers big and small.
We’ll take in a number of case studies; we’ll give you ideas you can take home and use right away. And we’ll show all you folks at small newspapers out there what can be done with minimal resources. After all, it ain’t the size of your newspaper that counts — it’s the size of your ideas.

The Art of Being Brilliant in Dallas, April 2008.—
How much does it cost?
Oh, that’s the beauty of it. It’s absolutely free.
When you cut and paste this into an e-mail to your editor, make sure you highlight that part. Hey, that’s a price that could warm the heart of even Sam Zell.
Why is this full-day, six-hour presentation on visual journalism free? Because the fine folks at the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association are footing the bill. This presentation has received great reviews in Atlanta, Austin, Raleigh, Dallas and Lexington. This is the last scheduled performance, at the moment. So come check it out.
