Get busy now if you want an internship for next summer
We really feel for those of you who are hoping for internships next summer. The situation seems rather bleak, we fear.
There simply aren’t that many internships out there for visual journalists this year. We made a run through the regular boards and came up with only a few. And you’ll note that more than half are looking for reporters or researchers — not designers, artists or photogs.
You’ll also note that the deadline to apply for some of these is rather soon. In fact, if you wait until after the Thanksgiving holiday, you might miss out. So if you’re interested, apply during your break:

Deadlines have passed already for internships at the Albuquerque Tribune, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Orlando Sentinel, the San Jose Mercury News, and the South Florida Business Journal.
And that’s about it. You can find more at JournalismJobs.com. But we suspect there isn’t much there you’d be interested in, other than what we’ve pulled out for you.
And, of course, we’ll point you to the Detroit Free Press‘ page full of tips for college news interns. It’s all very helpful stuff.
Good luck to you all.
