Cute web site gimmicks gone wild
The official web site for Parker Brothers’ Scrabble word game — surely you’re familar with the game, if not the site — has a cute little feature that we’re sure some genius thought would be educational and entertaining.
It’s a randomly-generated word of the day. Spelled out in cute little Scrabble tiles. They even thoughtfully provide you with a definition and everything.
You can see it there, on the bottom right of the page…
But wait — the random word for this particular day… Surely that’s not what we think it is, is it?
Yep. ‘Fraid so:
It’s still there, as of 4:40 p.m. EST Sunday. Go see it for yourself.
There’s a lesson here somewhere. We’ll let you know what it is, once we stop laughing.
Thanks to Tony Briggmin for pointing this out to us.

I hear ya, Ben, but I think that’s just to differentiate games like Scrabble from the games Parker Brothers makes specifically for children.
For example, that was Sunday’s word of the day. Today’s word, I see, is “unearth.”
