Birthdays for Monday, March 30
Here’s wishing the happiest of VizEds birthdays to Kerry Sipe, late of the Virginian-Pilot.
Kerry spent 25 years at the Virginian-Pilot before he took a buyout late last year. He served as public editor and city editor for Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, becoming the paper’s news online coordinator in 2001.
Which is a fancy way of saying he did damn near everything from posting news stories to building multimedia packages to live-blogging high-profile trials. A 1967 graduate of the Univeristy of North Carolina, Kerry worked as a reporter, photographer, copy editor and editor. He spent time at the Charlottesville, Va., Daily Progress and the News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C. Kerry turns 64 today.
Roger Friedensen is senior vice president for client services for the Catevo Group in Raleigh, N.C. Previously, he spent more than 20 years as vice president and director for client services for Epley Associates, Inc., also of Raleigh, N.C. A holder of both bachelors and masters degrees from the University of North Carolina, Roger is married to Teresa Kriegsman, design director of the News & Observer. Roger turns 48 today.
Kerry and Roger share a birthday with musicians Eric Clapton, Norah Jones, Celine Dion and Stanley Kirk “M.C. Hammer” Burrell, actors Paul Reiser, Warren Beatty, John Astin and Ian Ziering, TV game show host Peter Marshall and painter Vincent Van Gogh.
Plus, today is I Am In Control Day. Seriously.
Best wishes, Kerry; Roger, for a very happy birthday!
