Former Tribune designer, RedEye sports editor named Trib’s AME for Sports
Mike Kellams has been named Associate Managing Editor for Sports of the Chicago Tribune, the paper announced Monday.
The Tribune reports:
A graduate of Ball State University, Kellams has served in a variety of editing and design capacities since joining the Chicago Tribune in 1998, including his work as the first sports editor of its commuter tabloid, RedEye. He previously worked as lead sports designer for the Detroit News and the news design coordinator for the Seattle Times.
Kellams has been a team member on three Pulitzer Prize-winning projects: the Seattle Times’ investigation into Boeing’s 737 aircraft, the Times’ investigation of Native American casinos and the Tribune’s series on the problems that plague the airline industry and O’Hare International Airport.
Mike has been sports editor since 2006. He tells us his new duties have already begun.
