Rare Schulz ‘Peanuts’ April Fool’s comic to be auctioned

Editor & Publisher’s Joe Strupp reports a rare Charles Schulz original Peanuts comic strip could fetch a record-breaking sum when bidding ends on Tuesday.

The art dates from 1973, Strupp reports, and is autographed by Schulz:

[California-based memorabilia dealer] Nate Sanders states in a release that he is amazed at the attention an original Peanuts comic strip — hand-drawn and signed by creator Charles Schulz — is drawing to his auction house…

“Though Schulz published his Sunday Peanuts strips from 1952 to early 2000, only six of the approximately 2,500 Sunday pages were April Fool’s Days,” he says in a release. “Last year, a pair of original Peanuts comic strips, one daily and one Sunday, sold for a combined $106,270 at an auction in New York.”
