Twitter leaps over shark, lands on Tribune editorial page

From the editorial page of today’s Chicago Tribune:

This has to be a sign…

A sign that Twitter has ‘jumped the shark.’ A sign of the impending apocaplyse. A sign of something.

See it for yourself here.

You sure their system didn’t fart and print a page schedule for April 1?

Am I the only one who thinks this has the feel of an old guy trying to hard to prove that he’s “cool.”

I think my biggest pet peeve is that the twitter names are REPLACING the real names. Like, when we all started getting e-mail addresses, I didn’t stop being Nicole Bogdas and become nbogdas@aol.com, did I? And I’m still Nicole Bogdas. If you wanna add it, fine. Try and look cool, but at least give me your real name, too. And for that matter, don’t publish the name just cause you have one. Twitter is not a tool with which you contact someone like an e-mail address. I could give a hoot if you registered a name, but if you’re USING it? That’s different. /rant

This just means that we will be able to hear Tribune’s last gasp in real time instead of having to wait for the print edition.
