Birthdays for Friday, April 3
Here’s wishing the happiest of VizEds birthdays to a trio of fine visual journalists…
Steve Allen has been a designer at the News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C., for about five years. A 1994 graduate of the University of South Carolina, he spent two years at the Kinston (N.C.) Free Press and then seven years at the Greensboro News & Record. Steve is also a graduate student at N.C. State University, where he’s studying conservation and land use issues in State’s school of Fisheries and Wildlife Science. Steve turns 37 today.
Khushroo Ghadiali is a graphic designer for Wright and Dalbin, an architecture firm based in El Paso, Texas. He also runs his own photography business, Soli Event Photography. He spent nearly two years as special sections editor of the Las Vegas Optic and then a brief time as assistant editor of NewspaperTree.com in El Paso. Khushroo turns 31 today.
Charles Jones has been a graphic artist with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for four years. A graduate of both the University of Kentucky (1990) and Clark Atlanta University (1993), Charles has worked at the Stuart, Fla., News, the New York Post, the Washington Post, the Baltimore Sun, the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel and the Cincinnati Enquirer. Charles turns the big four-oh today.
Steve, Khushroo and Charles share a birthday with writer Washington Irving, scientist Jane Goodall, journalist Herb Caen, musicians Wayne Newton and Tony Orlando, Olympic skiier Picabo Street, and actors Eddie Murphy, Marsha Mason, David Hyde Pierce, Alec Baldwin and Marlon Brando.
Plus, today is Don’t Go To Work Unless It’s Fun Day. Seriously.
Best wishes for a happy birthday, guys!
