Jay Carr has been graphics editor of the Houston Chronicle for more than five years. A 1990 graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, Jay spent a year as an artist and cartoonist for the Alexandria (La.) Daily Town Talk and another year as an artist with the Waco Tribune-Herald before joining the Austin American-Statesman in 1992. After seven years in Austin, Jay moved to the Dallas Morning News and then to the Chronicle in 2002. He was promoted to graphics editor in 2004. Jay turns 42 today.

Keeli Garza recently took a buyout from the Star-Telegram of Fort Worth, Texas, where she was online editor. She had been with the Star-Telegram nearly seven years, most of them as a print designer. She worked as a sports designer and clerk at The Orlando Sentinel while she attended Rollins College in nearby Winter Park, Fla. She graduated in 2002 with a degree in economics. She proudly lists her current position as CEO of the Garza household. Keeli turns 28 today.

Sara Quinn is a member of the visual journalism faculty of the Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, Fla. A 1986 graduate of Wichita State University, Sara was presentation director of the Wichita Eagle for 12 years. After earning a masters degree in illustration from Syracuse University, Sara spent five years as assistant managing editor for visuals at the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

Annie Wooden is the classified ad manager of the Sanders County Ledger in Thompson Falls, Mont., and a freelance journalist and marketing specialist. A 2002 graduate of Colorado State University and the owner of a masters degree in marketing, Annie has worked as a copy editor and page designer for the Knoxville (Tenn.) News-Sentinel, the Everett (Wash.) Herald and the Dallas Morning News. Annie turns 29 today.

These four share a birthday with actors Tricia Helfer and Joel Grey, Brenda Starr comic strip creator Dale Messick, Supreme Court justice Charles Evans Hughes, secretary of state Dean Acheson and Ethel Kennedy, wife of RFK.

Plus, today is Eight-Track Tape Day. Seriously.
