Here’s wishing the happiest of VizEds birthdays to two fine visual journalists.
Carrie Hamilton is a designer and illustrator for the York Daily Record in York, Pa. A 2006 graduate of Carnegie Mellon, Carrie spent a couple of years as an animation artist with Disney’s MGM Studios in Orlando before moving back to Pennsylvania.
Amy Martin is a senior designer with Knock Knock gifts and stationery in Venice, Calif. A 1997 graduate of the University of Michigan, Amy has worked as associate art director for The Advocate in Los Angeles, a designer at the Detroit Free Press and design editor for the Calendar section of the Los Angeles Times.
Carrie and Amy share a birthday with musicians Ron Wood, Pat Boone and Alanis Morissette; supermodel Heidi Klum; actors Morgan Freeman, RenĂ© Auberjonois, Andy Griffith and Norma Jeane Baker (better known as Marilyn Monroe), religious leader Brigham Young and “Son of Sam” killer David Berkowitz.
In addition, today is Dare Day. Seriously.

Charles! Thanks so much for the birthday wishes! I noticed you’ve been road tripping around PA this month, I hope you’ve been enjoying my homestate :) I’m glad to see that your schedule is full with workshops and seminars. You are without a doubt one of the most engaging speakers I ever met!
