Birthdays for Monday, July 13
Here’s wishing the happiest of VizEds birthdays to a couple of terrific journalists…
Melissa Angle has been a senior designer for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for nearly two years. A 2002 graduate of Wichita State University in Kansas, Melissa spent three years as a copy editor and designer for the Sun News of Myrtle Beach, S.C., before moving to the Orlando Sentinel in 2005, where she won Employee of the Year honors. Melissa is a regional director for the Society for News Design.
Van Denton worked 22 years at the News & Observer of Raleigh, N.C., first as a reporter and then as an editor. A 1980 graduate of Wake Forest University, Van spent four years as a reporter for the Lenoir, N.C., News-Topic and then two years with the Asheville, N.C., Citizen-Times before joining the N&O in 1986. Van turns 51 today.
Melissa and Van share a birthday with actors Harrison Ford, Patrick Stewart and Bob Crane, comedian Richard “Cheech” Marin, sports greats Jack Kemp and David Thompson, sports journalist Tony Kornheiser and Erno Rubik, the inventor of the Rubik’s Cube.
Plus, today is Fool’s Paradise Day. Seriously.
Best wishes, Melissa, Van, for a wonderful birthday!
