Mark Edelen is director of online production for the Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Va. A product of Western Kentucky University, Mark spent four years as a reporter, copy editor and designer for the Messenger-Inquirer of Owensboro, Ky., before moving to the Pilot in 1990. He edited copy and designed pages before becoming the Pilot’s only web producer in 1995. He was promoted to senior producer in 1999 and then his current position last year. Marks turns 45 today.
Jorge Dionisio Munoz is a graphic artist and illustrator in Maplewood, N.J. Jorge has worked as a graphic artist or editor for the Times-Delta of Visalia, Calif., the Los Angeles Daily News, the Chicago Tribune, the Reflejos Daily Herald of Arlington Heights, Ill., and the Desert Sun of Palm Springs, Calif. Mark and Jorge share a birthday with blues musician Robert Cray, Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead, Adam Duritz of Counting Crows, rapper Artis Leon Ivey Jr. (better known as Coolio), National Anthem lyricist Francis Scott Key, author Herman Melville, comedian Dom DeLuise and fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent.
