Here’s wishing the happiest of VizEds birthdays to a couple of wonderful visual journalists.
Mia Bush is copy desk chief and leader of the national/international team at the Portland Oregonian. A 1986 graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, Mia spent 16 years as a copy editor, page designer and finally news editor of the Des Moines Register before moving west in 2003.
Ashley Fogle is a student at Bowling Green University, specializing in visual communication technology and marketing. She spent two years on the staff of the Bowling Green News and interned last year in the marketing department of Fresh Encounter, a grocery chain. She expects to graduate in 2011.
Ashley and Mia share a birthday with actors Paul “Pee-Wee Herman” Reubens, Barbara Bach, Martha Raye and Sarah Chalke of Scrubs; musicians Alex Lifeson (of Rush) and Daryl Dragon (of the Captain and Tennille); movie producer Samuel Goldwyn; football coach Frank Leahy and president Lyndon B. Johnson.
Plus, today is Petroleum Day. Seriously.
