How do you feel about THIS giant A1 ad?
That’s the problem with these li’l guys. They make money and perhaps prevent another layoff. But when you give them a few inches, they take another and another:
That’s Wednesday’s New Haven, Conn., Register, circulation 70,000.
Is that better or worse than the Los Angeles Times‘ own L-shaped debacle, a few months ago?:
The Register’s ad is worse because it’s even larger and more obtrusive, pushing the content into more of a tabloid or Berliner-type format. But it’s also better, because at least it looks like an ad. It’s not disguised as news copy. Which is just dishonest.

Props to the designers/editors for still getting three stories and some art out there!
