AP art director Nicolas Rapp stepping down to drive around the world
Nicolas Rapp, a graphic journalist for the Associated Press for the past eight years and an art director for the past five years, announced Thursday he will step down from his post effective Nov. 2 — one week from today.
He plans to drive around the world. Seriously.
He posted late last week in his blog:
Back in the summer of 2009, I began to work on a challenging map. Trying to find out if it was possible to drive around the world.
Now that the map is done, I will attempt the drive, just to make sure I got it right.
He plans to embark on his adventure on Nov. 15 by driving southwest from New York City through Mexico to Buenos Aires, Argentina. From there, he’ll cross the Atlantic via ship to South Africa and head north from there.
He’s figuring a year, at least, traveling in this Toyota land crusier:
A 1997 graduate of the Corvisart Multimedia School in Paris, Nick spent three years working for ANDCO press, a French newspaper redesign consultancy, and then a year working with Reuters-Wag before joining the Associated Press in 2001 in its Paris office. He moved to NYC a year later.

My hat’s off to you, Nick. I’ll be sure to follow your blog as you make your way around the world.
I’ve had a dream to walk around the world (four to five years), but we’ll see about that!

You can dream it, You CAN do it! It’s very inspiring to see someone live their dreams and go beyond all barriers of cultural and society norms. Kudos to you Nicolas for stepping out of the box and living YOUR dream! In 2007, after seeing the movie “The Secret”, I discovered my purpose and wanted to speak worldwide teaching others about the Law of Attraction. I quit the day job, cashed everything in, and in one year traveled literally around the globe being trained by many of the great master teachers in the film. I recently moved to France with my boyfriend and now speak throughout Europe. It’s putting the intention out there and then allowing your manifestations to grow! Contact me for a place to crash when you’re in France. If I’m not speaking on tour you’re more then welcome to stay as our guest near Grenoble. I look forward to your blogs! Love, Light and Blessings to you on your adventureous journey.
