Here’s wishing the happiest of VizEds birthdays to Lauren Roth, the education reporter for the Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk. Lauren turns 31 today.
Lauren 2000 graduate of Northwestern University and is one of the more cooperative reporters I’ve ever worked with as a graphics editor. That cooperation paid off time and time again in wonderfully descriptive graphic pieces that explained schools, politics and funding in the region.
Lauren shares a birthday with actors Kate Winslet, Karen Allen, Donald Pleasence, Bernard Jeffrey McCullough (better known as Bernie Mac) and Larry Fine of the Three Stooges; musician Bob Geldorf; basketball’s Grant Hill; hockey greats Patrick Roy and Mario Lemieux; artist Maya Ying Lin; heiress Nicky Hilton; educator John Erskine and McDonald’s founder Ray Croc.
Plus, today is the National Storytelling Festival. Seriously.
