Lauren King is a staff reporter for the Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk. A 1999 graduate of the University of Arizona, Lauren earned a master’s degree from Syracuse University in 2000.
Laura Maychruk is owner of the Buzz Cafe in Oak Park, Ill., in the suburbs of Chicago. A 1991 graduate of Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania, Laura moved from a position as a secretary for the Chicago Tribune’s photo department to the graphics department as a coordinator. She left the Tribune in 1998 to open their cafe. Which is still thriving, 11 years later.
Laura and Lauren share a birthday with actors Monique Coleman, Chris Noth, Steve Zahn and Caryn Elaine Johnson (better known as Whoopi Goldberg); comedian Jimmy Kimmel and author Robert Louis Stevenson.
Plus, today is National Indian Pudding Day. Seriously.
