Here’s wishing the happiest of VizEds birthdays today to three wonderful journalists…
Sara Hansen is a senior content editor at the Coloradoan of Fort Collins, Colo. A 1986 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., Sara spent nine years as an editor with the News-Leader of Springfield, Mo., and then six years at the Des Moines Register before working with Meredith, a major publisher of magazines in Des Moines. She moved to Colorado in 2006. Earlier this year, she opened an online business — Doggy Divas — that caters to dog lovers.
Tim Kelly is editor of the Enterprise of Beaumont, Texas, circulation 45,684. A 1982 graduate of the University of Maryland, Tim spent much of his career in sports, working with USA Today, the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, the Los Angeles Daily News, the Dallas Morning News and the San Antonio Light, eventually working his way up to executive sports editor. He spent three years as an assistant managing editor of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer before moving to Beaumont 13 years ago.
Aaron Olson is a student journalist at Michigan State University. He was a senior designer and design editor for the Ball State Daily News while attending that institution. He graduated in 2007, now attends MSU and interned this past summer at the Miami Herald. He expects to graduate from Michigan State in 2010.
Sara, Tim and Aaron share a birthday with musicians Tom Fogerty (of Creedence Clearwater Revival), Mary Travers (of Peter, Paul and Mary), Nick Lachey (of 98 degrees) and Sisqó Mark Althavean Andrews (an R&B singer best known for “the Thong Song”); actor Lou Ferrigno (best known for playing the Incredible Hulk on TV in the 1970s); baseball great Bob Gibson; disgraced vice-president Spiro Agnew and astronomer Carl Sagan.
Plus, today is Chaos Never Dies Day. Seriously.
