India’s Kerala Kaumudi redesigns
The Kerala Kaumudi, a 150,000-circulation Malayalam-language daily in Kerala, India, launched a redesign recently.
Iam Sajeevkumar T.K. — or tksajeev for short; he’s the paper’s visual editor as well as the proprietor of NewspaperDesign, a site that specializes in Indian newspaper design — posted pages and sent us a preview. My apologies for not getting these up earlier.

For the most part, the prototypes play art much larger than the original pages. Which is a good thing.

Also, the new pages seem to display fewer stories. Because the old pages have more text crammed into them, they seem cluttered and unstructured. Tksajeev seems to have solved that by adding structure.
Also, the black font looks cleaner than the old colored font.
