Chuck Grimes is senior project specialist for the web site of the Dallas Morning News. A 1986 graduate of N.C. State University in Raleigh, Chuck spent 11 years as a sports agate specialist for the News & Observer before leaping to the Houston Chronicle in 1994. He spent a year as assistant managing editor for sports for the old Nando.net web site and then spent another year as a senior producer for the web operation for the papers in Huntsville, Birmingham and Mobile. He moved to Dallas in 1999.
Kenny Irby is group leader for visual journalism and director of diversity at the Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, Fla. A 1983 graduate of Boston University, Kenny spent seven years as deputy director of photography at Newsday before joining Poynter in 1995. Kenny turns 48 today.
Chuck and Kenny share a birthday with musicians Britney Spears and Nelly Furtado; comedian Sarah Silverman; actors Lucy Liu and Ray Walston; tennis great Monica Seles; fashion designer Gianni Versace; painter Georges Seurat and politician Alexander Haig.
