Peter Ames Carlin is a “roving cultural reporter” for the Oregonian of Portland. A 1985 graduate of Portland’s Lewis & Clark College, Peter was previously a senior writer for People magazine. He’s been published in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and the Men’s Journal. He’s written two books about famous musicians: Catch A Wave: The Rise, Fall and Redemption of the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson and, more recently, Paul McCartney: A Life. Find his web site here.
Shweta Gamble is design editor of the Tuscaloosa (Ala.) News. A 2000 gradaute of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Shweta spent three years as a designer for the Birmingham News and two more at the Orlando Sentinel before returning to Alabama in 2005. Find her portfolio here.
Kelly Hoffman is an author and web designer based in Reading, Pa. Among the sites she runs: DogToys.com, StarTrekToysOnline.com, and SciFiSlacker.com. In 2000, she authored a book, The Unauthorized Handbook and Price Guide to Star Trek Toys. Kelly is a 1994 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design in Lancaster.
Anita Langemach is an illustrator and designer for the Gazette of Colorado Springs. A 2000 graduate of Maple Woods Community College in Kansas City, Anita worked as a photographer and cartoonist for the Herald of Smithville, Mo., eventually moving up to become sports editor. She joined the Gazette five years ago. She also free-lances on the side, via her company, ARL Designs.
Dave Sottile is a sportswriter and copy editor for the Daily Record of York, Pa. A 1988 graduate of Penn State University, Dave spent a year-and-a-half as a sportswriter for the Daily Local News of West Chester, Pa., before moving to York in 1991. Dave turns 44 today.
Carlos Viciano is a professor of new media and interactive video at Universidad Nacional in Córdoba, Argentina. Carlos spent two year on the faculty of the School of Music at Collegium CIEM, teaching art, technology and sound. He also serves on the board of Mediarte Studios and consults via Semeia Consulting. Carlos turns 49 today.
Anita, Shweta, Kelly, Carlos, Dave and Peter share a birthday with actors Emile Hirsch, Dana Delany, William H. Macy and Paul Fix; musicians Adam Clayton (of U2) and Neil Sedaka; baseball great Will Clark; CIA director William Casey; writer L. Ron Hubbard and astronomer Percival Lowell.
