Nicole Bogdas moves to Des Moines Register
Nathan Groepper, director of the design desk for the Des Moines Register, announced today:
I am proud to announce the Register has hired news designer Nicole Bogdas. She’ll join the news/design desk and will be part of the front-page design rotation.
…Nicole has won 13 Society of News Design awards and has designed pages for four Pulitzer Prize finalists. She has worked at the Orlando Sentinel, South Florida Sun-Sentinel and most recently at the Herald-Zeitung in New Braunfels, Texas. Nicole grew up in the Chicago area and attended the University of Missouri.
Nicole’s first day in the office will be March 29.

I gotta tell ya, folks, this blogging gig is a whole lot better when you’re announcing good news like this, as opposed to layoffs and such. And this is the second high-profile visuals hire in four days — Saturday, I posted that Paul Wallen has been hired by the Huntsville Times.

Congrats, Nicole (and Nathan)!! We were also big fans of Nicole’s work in Detroit at the Free Press where she was one of many generations of stand-out interns (back when we had such things).
