Here’s wishing the happiest of VizEds birthdays to Joy Mayer of the University of Missouri.
Joy has been at Mizzou seven years, teaching news design and serving as design editor for the Missourian and for Missourian Online. A 1996 graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Joy started her career as a designer for the Wichita (Kan.) Eagle. She spent five years as a designer for the Herald-Tribune of Sarasota, Fla., before moving to Columbia in 2003.
Joy shares a birthday with actors Thomas Hanks, Jimmy Smits, Richard Roundtree, Frederick Savage, Kelly McGillis, Linda Park, Mitchel Musso and Kiely Williams; musicians Courtney Harrison Love and John Tesh; politicians Donald Rumsfeld and Edward Heath; and NFL star-turned-jailbird Orenthal James Simpson and writer Dean Koontz.
In addition, today is Martyrdom of the Báb Day. Seriously.
