Founded in 1950 by Romulo O’Farrill Sr. (also founder of the newspaper Novedades de Mexico) and Mr. Romulo O’Farrill Jr., The News was the only locally-produced English languaje newspaper in Mexico City.
The daily closed in 2002 as a result of the economic impact of Sept. 11, 2001. After a break of five years, his grandson, Victor Hugo O’Farril relaunched on October 18th with a brand new design the paper to serve the English-speaking community in Mexico.
