I apologize that the Visual Editors Web and e-mail services were down for so long and without warning.

A combination of server attack and equipment failure (most likely linked to the severe electrical storms) knocked us out. A bit difficult to troubleshoot.

There was a lot to do and only lil' ol me backstage here running SSH commands, initiating SFTP transfers, unzipping tarballs, running scripts, e-mailing tech support (40 messages since 1 p.m. Thursday) fixing permissions and all sorts of IT fun into the wee hours.

The good news is that I am told that we are running on a more secure system now.

Please report any trouble spots in this post and we'll do our best to correct them.
