How much you work depends on how long your lunch is and whether your company pays for it.
Right now, I work 37.5 hours a week, bc we have half an hour lunch unpaid and work an 8-hour shift. Other places, I've had half an hour lunch and been paid for 40 hrs, working 8.5 hrs a day.

I'm not salary, so anything more than that is OT. In my department, OT is frowned upon, and we're encouraged to work flexible hours and/or take comp time so it all evens out in the end.

Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way McTyre can't see me - and, uh, after that I just sorta space out for about an hour. I just stare at my desk; but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.

How many hours a week do I WORK, or how many hours a week am I AT WORK?

BIG difference.

When he was here, Chris Snider dubbed breaks at the Post-Dispatch "Telfords" as in, "I'm gonna go take a 10-minute Telford."

Oh, but for any potential future employers out there, it's just a joke.

Really.

Some days I'm only on for 7 1/2 to 8 hours. Some days it's between 12 and 14 hours.

My timesheets have averaged between 95 and 110 hours every two weeks, so between 48 and 55 hours a week.

But I do significantly less work between 9 and 11 p.m. than I do between, say, 1 to 3, 3 to 5, 5 to 7 and 7 to 9.... mostly waiting for West Coast Rockies games or marathon council hearings.

I don't put in too much more than 40 most weeks (probably between 40-50), though when I was in Bluffton, I put in closer to 60-70.

I think social life plays a big factor. In Bluffton, I didn't really have many friends outside of work. Here, I have quite a few and there's always a lot for me to do here.

I'd say I'm coming in at just under 50 a week, but I volunteer for about every overtime shift I can... and presentation is understaffed right now. A lot of it has been the social factor, too - I've only been here a few months and have yet to find a crew with whom to hang out.

All this will likely change, of course, now that my girlfriend has moved here as well.

My last job was at a PM, so it was in at 6 a.m., out at 1:30 p.m. Every day. And it was good.

Typically, we are told we can't go over 40 hours. Ever. Paid hourly, so they frown upon overtime. But since this redesign launch, I've been having to go over by a few hours every week.
