Just maybe it was this VizEds notice, but the training is back on. IFRA called and the Social media class is now loaded up with a couple dozen editors. Still a few spots open, I am sure - just contact Jen at Ifra if you are interested.
This workshop will again be held at the lovely Park Royal Hotel right in the heart of KL. Across the street from the great shopping and food districts.
Let's see I have a 12-hour layover in Narita on the 30-hour flip back to Chicago.This might just be time to take the high-speed train into Tokyo and spend a few hours loitering in the future.
I don't know the entire workshop schedule, but I have offered to lead the following sessions from my playbook.
==========
"Publishing 2.0"
Connecting with the audience new media attracts. An illustrated tour of the dynamics of social media tools, RSS, database driven reporting, Web video, interactive multimedia and social networks.
==================
"Web video is not television!"
How newspapers can employ social media, low-cost methods and critical visual editing techniques for making and distributing engaging, interactive news films.
Themes include include managing user-generated video content and using video to create niche Web sites.
=========================
"Keys to Building Online Communities"
Learn the dynamics of building social media Web sites that people will visit again and again.
===============================================
"A dozen ways news organizations are using blogs to connect with readers."
Blogs have grown up. A tour and discussion of how news organizations are using blogs to engage with their community and news consumers.
PLUS: We will be workshopping with the delegates to prototype ideas.
Can't wait - getting the marker and easel pads out is always the best part!
