In all honesty, the best advice I can give:
Kill the babies. You have way too much text on the page, and in the interest of good storytelling, something has to go. As a result of the huge amount of text you have on the page, you're running your photos way too small and compensating with a screen. The meat of your story isn't the colors on the page, but the words and photos.
The key to becoming a good journalist is being a good editor, and in the interest of making this a stronger page, that's the most essential thing here.
If you can get your point across in 800 words rather than 1,600, or 300 rather than 600, you've succeeded at making your content more useful.
Also, on a different note: The topic at hand seems to lend itself to numbers rather than a Photoshop job -- wouldn't it be more interesting if you could figure out a way to show how your school would rank if it could rank?
Finally, in interest of letting your text breathe, especially on a feature, rag it so you don't have uncomfortable spacing. You have some pretty wide rivers of white space flowing through your copy. _________________ [-,-] Stoic boy, you're far from home |
