This one got completely by me. So let's get caught up.
In late March, Josh posted at SportsDesigner:
| Quote: | Later this spring, I will join the Omaha World-Herald as sports design director. I'm elated at the prospect of working with and for deputy sports editor Dave Elsesser, who not only picked up some more SND awards this year but whose former market (Wichita) used to overlap with mine in OKC, thus he kept me in my place. Throw in sports editor Thad Livingston, and I'm joining a team of leaders I've long respected.
I am leaving the Arizona Republic after only nine months working on projects and A1, and the flat-out truth is, you can take the sports designer out of the Midwest, but you can't take the Midwest and sports out of the designer. Still, I'd like to go on record as thanking the Republic, and specifically people such as Tracy Collins, Bill Pliske and former colleagues Chris Kozlowski and Chris Mihal for the editing, feedback and all-around career growth that I received.
See you in Omaha. I'll be there in time for the College World Series. |
In fact, Josh begins his new job May 23.

Congrats, Josh! This is a sweet deal for Dave and the OMH. I'll share another part of this deal, also:
Dave and Josh have also hired a sports designer you may not have heard of but will after he starts there, Tim Parks, I had the absolute pleasure of working with Josh and Tim in OKC, Tim really taught Josh and myself a lot of what we know.
Man, I can't wait to see what comes out of Omaha.
| canderson wrote:: | Josh, are you on a never-ending quest to find the flatest place in the United States? If so, congratulations!
But really, good luck in Omaha! |
I can't speak for Phoenix, but as far as Omaha vs. Oklahoma City in flatness, I think Oklahoma City wins that one. _________________
