Folks:
There's an absolutey FANTASTIC opportunity for furthering your visual journalism accumen coming up quickly in East Lansing, Mich., on the famed campus of Michigan State University on Friday, Feb. 9.
This SND Quick Course's theme is "Telling Stories in New Ways," and the list of speakers is OUTSTANDING, to say the least:
• Chris Courtney, RedEye (Chicago Tribune)
• Josh Awtry, Salt Lake Tribune
• Karl Gude, Michigan State (formerly of Newsweek)
• Jamila Robinson, St. Louis Post Dispatch
• Steve Dorsey, Detroit Free Press
I mean, are you kidding me?!? You get these five great speakers, plus you can get your portfolio critiqued by them as well as folks like Rick Epps of the Detroit News!
And that's not all. There's going to be prizes! And I hear some of them are quite impressive, to say the least. And the prize list is growing every day.
But the real prize is the knowledge you're going to get from this QC. Darcy Greene (greened@msu.edu) and Cheryl Pell (pell@msu.edu) from MSU are the site chairs and can answer any questions you might have.
For the $95 you're going to spend as an SND member, it's an absolute bargain for your career. I know times are tight for papers everywhere, but if your paper can't pony up the C-note for you to attend, get in touch with me and I'll teach you some tricks to convince your bosses!
So be sure to visit the official Quick Course site and get signed up today!
Or download a PDF flyer to share with your bosses or co-workers -- time is of the essence! _________________ SND Region 4 (Lakes) Director: Visit the online blog!
